What do you do with your orts?
I used to just junk them. Now my elder daughter has convinced me that they need to be saved, so I put them in a little glass jar. The jars look rather pretty with a year or so of orts in them, so for now they're part of the decor of my living room.
My friend Meredith made me a Christmas ornament out of orts a couple of years ago, back when Lewiscraft (now defunct) was selling hollow plastic ornaments specifically for filling with orts. It's lovely.
My husband gave me the name Ember years ago - he says I'm like an ember in that I usually sit around quietly glowing, but when I'm poked I give off sparks. Here you will find my miscellaneous rantings on all and whatever.

I'm back
Since May I've worked, stitched, written, spent ten days in Florida, and basically had a blast.
Now that I'm writing an article for Embroidery Canada on stitchers' blogs I figured I'd better check in here again. I've joined sbq, so now I'll have to post at least once a week.

In praise of weekends
I am not a morning person, not even slightly.
All hail Saturday, the one day in my week when the alarm clock isn't set!
Of course, it's also a day where I have umpteen places to go and most of my trips can't be consolidated, but that's a minor point. I do at least have a moment or two to post this.

Hello, World
Not at all sure why I'm doing this, or what I hope to accomplish, but what the heck, here goes.
Hello, World. I'm Ember.
Last week, my 16-year-old asked me if I was a rebel with or without a cause. I said both. Then she said she couldn't understand why I rebelled. As a child of the 60s and 70s, I can't imagine not rebelling against something or other. Sometimes I wonder where that girl comes from!
